  17. <p>     Guess who's squeezing into advance screenings of Robert
  18. Altman's The Player, a take-no-prisoners satire of just about
  19. everyone in Hollywood? Just about everyone in Hollywood. "They
  20. get to play their favorite game--talking about themselves,"
  21. concludes a bemused Altman. "If they see something negative,
  22. they assume that that's the other guy"--which may also explain
  23. why Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis and dozens of Glitzville's
  24. greatest gladly assented to cameo appearances. Due for release
  25. in April, the film chronicles the murder of a screenwriter at
  26. the hands of studio exec Tim Robbins. "Hollywood is the arena,"
  27. says Altman, "but it's really a reflection of what our whole
  28. culture is coming to." Which is? "GREED!"
